🎧🔌 1/4" • 1/4" Audio Splitter

This passive adapter splits a single 1/4" TRS or TS signal into two outputs. It’s used to duplicate audio feeds for monitoring, recording, or routing purposes. No signal conversion occurs—just physical duplication. Available in mono and stereo configurations with distinct behaviors.

🔧 Splitter Varieties

  • 🎚️ Mono Male → 2x Mono Female
    • Duplicates a mono TS signal to two identical mono outputs
    • Common for sending one signal to two destinations
  • 🎛️ Stereo Male → 2x Stereo Female
    • Duplicates a stereo TRS signal to two stereo outputs
    • Used for dual headphone monitoring or parallel stereo feeds
  • 🌀 Stereo Male → 2x Mono Female (Both Same)
    • Combines L/R channels into identical mono outputs
    • Useful for feeding mono gear from stereo sources
    • Not suitable for true stereo separation

🖥️ Compatible Devices

  • 🎹 Source (Male side):
    • Audio interfaces
    • Mixers and headphone amps
    • Synths, samplers, and keyboards
  • 🔊 Destination (Female side):
    • Headphones and monitors
    • Recording devices
    • PA systems and patch bays

✅ Common Uses

  • 🎧 Share one headphone output between two listeners
  • 🎛️ Route a mono signal to two amps or recorders
  • 🔁 Duplicate stereo output for simultaneous monitoring
  • 🧩 Feed mono inputs from stereo sources in live setups

🧠 Signal Format

  • 🔊 TS (Tip-Sleeve): Mono, unbalanced
  • 🎚️ TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve): Stereo or balanced mono
  • 🧪 Stereo-to-mono splitters combine L/R into one channel
  • 🔁 No signal processing—adapter simply duplicates or merges paths

⚠️ Things to Watch Out For

  • 🚫 No isolation—can cause signal degradation or interference
  • 🧯 Stereo-to-mono split may reduce clarity or introduce phase issues
  • 🧪 Not suitable for splitting balanced signals unless matched
  • 🔌 Always match connector type (TS vs TRS) to your gear
  • 🧭 Label clearly—splitters look identical but behave differently

🛠️ Quick Tips for Beginners

  • 🧵 Use short cables to minimize noise
  • 🧭 Confirm whether your source is stereo or mono before choosing a splitter
  • 🧪 Test both outputs—some splitters may favor one side
  • 🔌 Avoid using stereo-to-mono splitters for critical listening
  • 🧩 Keep extras—splitters are small but essential in live and studio setups
